An overview, for discussion.

Process

We start with a discovery call.

It’s a time for you to be heard.  To discuss your broad view of where you are and where you want to be.

We’ll look at inbound marketing strategy.  Ways to bring clients to you through the content of your website and through sharing your expertise.  

We’ll look at ways to convey in your web copy and marketing text how you solve the needs of your clients.  

We’ll consider how to:

  • Strengthen current market sectors.
  • Reshape those market sectors to expand to others.
  • Highlight your expertise and your story.
  • Zoom out and craft a tone of voice for your brand.

We’ll go over:

  • Current and near-future project milestones that need their story told and amplified.
  • Your thoughts on your website and web content.
  • How well you surface on web searches and how we can improve.
  • Your marketing, email campaigns, and proposal text.

Based on this initial call, I’ll provide a proposal.  Then we contract to work together.

As part of that work, we’ll monitor ongoing copy strategy through periodic check-ins, where you tell me about your ongoing goals, and I find practical approaches to achieve them.

I prepare, as well, a brand audit, usually challenging current messaging and copy.  Surfacing ways to help you see things in how you present yourself through your copy, that we can improve, or build on.

Take the leap

When you hire me:

I dive deep.  Learning everything I can about you, your business, and your unique market.  

I want you to succeed.  I want to provide you with the very best copy to help you do that. 

I will bring ideas to the table.  Based upon your expertise and mine, we will find new ways of looking at things, together.

I will of course labor over the details.  When you receive something from me, it will be edited.  Then edited again and again.  It will be crystal clear copy that you can use for many things.  

While my writing expertise is of such value to you, you are as well getting so much more than a great copywriter.  I have been a part of the AEC industry for nearly thirty years.  During that time, I have been so fortunate to have worked among the most amazing people, making the most amazing buildings.  I know their voices, and yours.  I know how deadlines drive success and how powerful our accountability is.  

And, I know how difficult it is to give words to these amazing achievements that we accomplish in the AEC industry.  I can write those words for you.

Billing & Rates

It depends on what’s needed.  Are we reimagining, say, an existing strategy or starting from scratch? 

My hope is that you’ll see copywriting as a long-term service providing ongoing value, much like you would want your clients to think of design.  

Maybe we start with a one-off project to build on. Perhaps you already have clear objectives or needs for me to base a fee proposal on.

While there are times when hourly billing, or fee per word, is best for both of us, I prefer, when we can, to define project-specific needs and an agreed-upon fixed price that aligns with your goals and meets with your expectations.

A framework of generally anticipated effort, for discussion:

  • Web page content: Beginning around $500
  • Articles and white papers: $500 – $1500
  • Social media posts: $500
  • Blog posts (1,000 words): $750
  • Email initiatives: Beginning around $250 per email.

My clients are those that look at this as a journey that we take together.  I listen carefully, and I give you voice through my writing, to help you wherever you are.
